This position provides strategic direction and oversight for training and development activities throughout the organization. Diagnoses organizational needs, recommends the appropriate mix and emphasis to improve organizational effectiveness, and implements the agreed upon plan. Organizes training and development programs to support the organization's initiatives. Designs and delivers programs focused on professional employees and identifies externally suitable programs. Contributes to training programs for the hourly workforce, working closely with manufacturing management and human resource business partners.
This position is located in the Chicago office. Position midpoint may be adjusted based on candidate's knowledge, skill, and experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Manages all core training programs including eLearning modules and classroom offerings for new professionals, managers, and leaders •Identifies training needs across the organization, determines project costs/benefits, and recommends the best approach •Stays keenly aware of external learning and development advancements, and brings insights to the company •Initiates, organizes, and facilitates corporation-wide virtual and instructor-led sessions; provides guidance and recommendations to specific departments and business units for custom training solutions •Reviews, measures, and evaluates the effectiveness of programs, using learning and development industry best practices •Prepares training budget, seeks and obtains funding approval, and controls costs against budget •Implements assessment programs for selection and development purposes, including recommendations on coaching •Interacts with external training partners to identify course objectives and content •Manages a critical company-wide program, Directions Training, for all plant locations, sales territories, and offices within North America
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Ability to think strategically and bridge business and learning needs
Familiarity with Adult Learning Theory or similar theories/concepts
Understanding of instructional design methodology/concepts
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Ability to multi-task, manage time and multiple projects simultaneously
Tech-savvy, able to learn new technologies quickly and effectively
Able to design learning opportunities as well as manage contractors
Strong business acumen
Good project management skills, identifies key objectives and drives for results
Innovative and creative in designing and delivering training content
Ability to manage a budget effectively
Education and Related Experience Required:
Bachelors degree in human resources or related field; Master's degree strongly preferred
5 years experience leading an L&D area or working in a management role focused on training and development
Experience managing a team, which includes internal and third party resources
Experience with Cornerstone OnDemand, a plus
L&D, training, performance management, or related certifications/credentials a plus
