USG Corporation Architectural Sales Representative - Ceilings Plus (New York) in New York
The Architectural Sales Representative Ceilings Plus applies extensive product, technical, and application expertise to promote USG Ceilings Plus specialty ceilings products. The incumbent establishes strong relationships with the Architectural and Design communities and obtains specifications for USG Ceilings Plus products. In addition, the incumbent collaborates effectively with Ceilings Plus management, Ceilings Plus field project management and other “buy side” players to close major projects that they have specified.
The Architectural Sales Representative (ASR) for Ceilings Plus focuses on getting the A&D specification and staying involved with specifications to track the project through bid and sale of the specification. The ASR understands the full construction cycle and connects specifications to successful installations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maximizes USG's short and long term growth in sales volume, gross profit and industry position, with a particular focus on Ceilings Plus products and systems • Proactively develops relationships with architects, interior designers, spec writers, owners, construction managers and general contractors to increase preference and demand for USG products and systems • Networks within the industry by participating in appropriate associations to build credibility and USG’s brand • Actively tracks projects in the early design stages to influence the specification. Maintains and regularly updates in Salesforce.com a minimum number of projects where USG is/could be specified and shares the information with the field sales team • Follows projects through to close and ensures ongoing collaboration with the Field Project Managers • Communicates and collaborates within the Architectural Sales team, Ceilings Division Management team, and other USG departments and divisions. Supports local field sales team and distribution partners. Team play is essential with this entrepreneurial individual contributor role • Launches and promotes target products and programs. Monitors competitive activity and strategically promotes USG's Ceilings Plus offering. Works well in a fast-paced environment • Educates the customer by providing lunch and learns, pertinent literature and samples
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Self-starter with very strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities • Computer proficiency required in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Salesforce.com is used daily to record and share information. Other industry related computer skills (CAD, REVIT, Sketch Up, Presentation software, etc.) are a plus • Attends USG sponsored training courses to thoroughly understand value-proposition, positioning strength, and overall strategy and tactics of selling ceilings system • Proven ability to identify key decision makers and build relationships. An adept networker. Membership in at least one industry group involving periodic evening meetings will be expected • Good listener. Strong written and oral communication skills. Interactive presentation skills. Good client and customer service skills
Physical Demands and Other Requirements
• Physical requirements include the ability to carry 30 lbs and drive a car (valid driver’s license required) • Travel within the major market will be required, approximately 30 - 50% travel
Education and Related Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Design, Marketing, Business or related field. Advanced education beyond a Bachelor’s Degree is a plus • Two year minimum of Architectural Sales experience or Project Management experience in an Architectural or Design Firm. Technical expertise/aptitude required. If not already attained, will need to become AIA Certified to deliver CEU presentations. LEED Accreditation preferred
