USG Corporation Tax Analyst in United States

Position Description

  • To ensure timely and full tax return compliance, audit management and applicable financial statement reporting by USG Corporation and its subsidiaries with the spirit and the letter of all U.S. federal, state and local tax laws with an emphasis on state and local tax.

  • This position is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all state and local tax income. This includes the timely and accurate filing of all state/local income, sales and use, payroll and/or franchise returns, estimates and extensions. Accurate reports of the Corporation’s tax liabilities and related information, ensures the intended consequences of tax planning efforts and avoids penalties.

  • The Corporation and its U.S. subsidiaries are audited on a regular basis by numerous state and local revenue authorities. Rapidly increasing budget deficits have caused the increased volume of changing tax laws and reporting requirements required by each taxing jurisdiction. To keep current requires an understanding of significant quantities of new laws, regulations and interpretive tax rulings in order to maintain sufficient technical expertise. Further, the 300 general ledger accounts must be updated, maintained and audited; financial statement reporting issues must be identified, with a high degree of accuracy to ensure proper reporting in the Corporation’s financial statements.

  • Prepare and review all assigned portions of the consolidated U.S. federal and state income tax returns and related work papers in compliance with all applicable federal and state income tax laws in an accurate and timely manner.

  • The position is an additional resource for evaluating management proposals, pending corporate transactions and newly enacted tax laws impacting the Corporation’s operations. Occasionally provides guidance on the specific state and local tax considerations.

  • Additionally, this position assists with the implementation and maintenance of the core tax provision and tax return processes in the Department. This includes identification of new and improved process items, documentation of the process and overseeing its completion.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Finance or Accounting required

  • CPA/JD preferred

  • 0-3 years
